Spec. TU 3925-016-93978201-2012
Extractors are intended for removing used gland seals from the armature and pump stuffing box.
A standard set of extractors includes:
- flexible extractors;
- tips to flexible extractors in the form of a corkscrew and in the form of a self-tapping screw (woodscrew);
- rigid extractors;
- tools for tip change.

If there is free access to the used gland seal, a rigid extractor is usually used. In case when the gland seal to be removed is in a hard-to-reach place, a flexible extractor is usually used.

Rigid extractors
Rigid extractor (hook) is in essence a metal rod of a certain diameter, pointed and bent in the form of a hook in its work zone, and also bent in the Г-form or in the ring form in the holder (handle) zone.

Flexible extractors
Flexible extractor consists of a flexible shaft equipped with a metal T-shaped handle on the one part and a removable tip of either of the types on the other part.
The tip is made of two types:
- a «Ш» type – in the form of a corkscrew. The corkscrew-shaped tip to the flexible extractor is used for removing a pack of low density, not prone to hardening and coking while in operation (usually graphite, carbonic, and combined).
- a «С» type – in the form of a self-tapping screw. The self-tapping screw-shaped tip to the flexible extractor is used for removing a pack of high density, prone to hardening and coking while in operation (usually fluoroplastic, aramid, coked asbestos, cotton and others).

Advantages
Use of extractors makes it possible to exclude damage of the chamber and piston-rod surfaces, and in case of emergency replacement of the pack, to perform the partial disassembling of armature and pump.
